The kindest thing we could say about this advert is that things worked differently in 2013. The centre of its premise is that a man dresses as a woman to become a “football WAG” and then goes out to place some sports bets. Quite why this individual has to crossdress in order to go about the task is never adequately explained, and it’s probably not the sort of advert that anybody would consider making in the 2020s. That being said, it attracted a lot of attention at the time – even if a lot of that attention wasn’t good. The intention was to amuse the audience, but the joke fell flat then and would fall even flatter now. This wasn’t Bet Victor’s finest hour.

2013 – Carsino

This is another Bet Victor advert that at least partially shot itself in the foot. The plot involves Victor’s friend pulling up in a “carsino” – a car that he’s tricked out with all the latest online slots and other casino games so he can play while he’s on the move. Victor explains to him that he doesn’t need a “carsino” because he’s got the Bet Victor casino app, so he can play all his favourite games on the move anyway. Somewhat dejected by this, the man with the “carsino” drives away. We have nothing against the Bet Victor app – it’s one of the best of its kind – but you can’t tell us that a car which is also a casino isn’t a cool idea.

2016 – BetVictor Provides Best Odds

This commercial has ironic humour of the highest degree, it shows what happens when you are straightforward in explaining your motives. In the ad, one friend tells the other that BetVictor has the best odds on the Premier League football for four years in a row so there’s no need need to go anywhere else to place bets on football. His friend thanks him for the advice, but then both friends wonder what they’re supposed to do with the rest of the commercial. In the end, they decide to watch some parodies of over-the-top adverts made by other sports betting companies. As a send-up of the way gambling adverts usually work, it’s very effective.

BetVictor Launches BILDBet

BetVictor helped set up the launch of a new sports betting platform in Germany in the latter half of 2020. It goes by the name of BILDBet, and was launched in partnership with the German newspaper Bild. This is the most recent major move made by BV Gaming Limited, and suggests that the parent company now has ambitions that go beyond the confines of its UK licence.
