There’s something delightfully retro about the style of Casino Punkz. From the logo to the graphics on the homepage, there’s an 8-bit feel to the presentation that reminds us of the original Nintendo Entertainment System or even the old ZX Spectrum (yes, we just aged ourselves badly). The retro theme is a popular one in the entertainment world, but we’re not sure how well it jives with the far more modern concept of a cryptocurrency casino. Does Casino Punkz somehow manage to take these two clashing styles, put them together and pull it off? Let’s find out.

Casino Punkz Welcome Offers

It’s a case of “welcome offer” rather than “welcome offers” at Casino Punkz. There’s only one offer, but it’s a big one. New players at the casino can claim a 100% matched deposit worth up to £5000 or its equivalent in cryptocurrency, and there’s no minimum deposit required to trigger the promotion. The only catch is that the full value of the deposit plus the bonus must be wagered x40 before it can be withdrawn, and players only have seven days to clear this hurdle. Slots contribute 100% towards the wagering requirement, but live games contribute just 20%.

Ongoing Promotions

There are no other “proper” promotions at Casino Punkz, but the casino does offer a series of “challenges.” The nature of these challenges changes daily, but as an example of what you can expect, there was a prize of £200 for hitting an x2000 multiplier on Big Bass: Secrets of the Golden Lake at the time of our visit to the casino, and an identical reward for achieving the same outcome in Thunder Coins: Hold and Win. The only “challenge” here is spending money and hoping you get lucky, but we suppose it’s something else to aim for if you’re going to play the slots anyway.

We’re not totally sure about whether or not Casino Punkz offers VIP rewards. There’s a side menu option for a VIP Club, but it’s greyed out. There’s also a VIP link in the footer of the casino’s website, but we were taken to the registration screen when we clicked on it. That either means all the information about the scheme is only available to members or possibly that despite the promotional text elsewhere on the Casino Punkz website, the scheme isn’t up and running yet.

What are the Pros and Cons of Casino Punkz?

Pros: That welcome promotion is massive. The casino is asking for a lot of trust from new players to deposit up to £5000 as a first deposit, but so long as it can be trusted, the rewards are potentially massive. The daily challenges offer an extra element of fun to the slots, and the casino’s portfolio is decent.

Cons: Despite promises to the contrary, Casino Punkz doesn’t appear to offer VIP rewards. It also doesn’t tell us anything about withdrawal processing times. We know that the casino is crypto-only, so we expect withdrawals to be instant, but the fact that the casino doesn’t specify this makes us suspicious. Speaking of suspicious, we were able to fully access the Casino Punkz website from the UK despite it not holding a licence to serve the region.

While we can see that Casino Punkz accepts almost any major cryptocurrency (starting with Bitcoin and running all the way through to SAND, which is about as niche as niche gets), we can’t see any information anywhere on the casino’s website about turnaround times. Our expectation for cryptocurrency casinos is that withdrawals are processed immediately, but Casino Punkz doesn’t confirm this, and that makes us worry that things might be considerably slower.

Customer Support and Licensing

There’s a live chat support service at Casino Punkz, but agents aren’t always available (and certainly weren’t available when we were writing this review). When that happens, players can send a message through the chat service or email [email protected]. The casino is covered by the Internet Gamin Licence that its operator, Star Bright Media SRL, holds in the State of Anjouan. Strangely, this licence doesn’t appear to cover the Casino Punkz sister sites.

Being punk is all about breaking the rules, but when we’re talking about rules as important as licensing, we’re afraid that we have to be sticks in the mud. The simple and unfortunate fact is that Casino Punkz actively promotes the use of a VPN to get around licensing restrictions, and that’s massively irresponsible behaviour. It doesn’t matter how good or bad the casino is – and we think most of it is pretty good – there are some red flags you can’t overlook, and this is one of them.
