Top Esports Entertainment (Malta) Casinos 2024

Esports Entertainment Sister Sites

There are some very popular casinos on the Esports Entertainment (Malta) Limited network, but those casinos sadly aren’t available to players in the UK. Far from being esports specialists – which is what the network company’s name heavily implies – Esports Entertainment blends sports betting and virtual sports betting sites with standard online slots and casino sites on a diverse range. All of the casinos are covered by a licence granted by the Malta Gaming Authority, which theoretically makes them trustworthy, but as none of them have a UK Gambling Commission licence we don’t recommend trying to play at any of these sites even if you find a way to access them. Anybody who does so plays at their own risk.

LuckyDino

luckydino sister sites

LuckyDino was already a popular casino site before it was acquired by Esports Entertainment. Now, with the company’s backing, it’s set to become even more popular. Having a cute mascot tends to help a casino site find customers, and in the case of LuckyDino, we have a cute-looking T-rex wearing body armour. The site offers online slots from thirteen of the highest-rated providers in the casino industry and grants matched bonus funds on the first two deposits made by new players. Better still is the fact that any winnings landed via cashing in free spins aren’t subject to any wagering requirements. That’s a rarity in the world of online casinos. We don’t see it often, which is why we make a point of applauding it every time we come across it. Unfortunately, Lucky Dino isn’t open to UK-based players so there’s no way of taking advantage of the casino’s generosity if you try to access the site from a UK IP address.

Casino Jefe

casinojefe sister sites

Casino Jefe came into the Esports Entertainment Malta family at the same time as LuckyDino via the same route. Looking at a side by side comparison of the two casinos, that’s not all they have in common. They were clearly made using the same template, with the dinosaur mascot of LuckyDino swapped for a wrestling cat wearing a mask at Casino Jefe. It’s an odd mascot but it’s cute, and it’s likely to appeal to players. The range of providers at Casino Jefe is the same as that of LuckyDino, and the promotions are broadly similar, too. They’re sister sites in every sense. The wrestling cat motif is more likely to appeal to players in Mexico than anywhere else because that’s where lucha libre is most popular, but arguments about where in the world Casino Jefe might be most popular are rendered moot by the fact that they can’t become popular in the UK by default. This casino looks like it’s full of character and is probably a lot of fun to play at, so if its licencing situation was ever to change we’d be excited by the idea of giving it a try.

VIE Bet

vie casino logo

VIE Casino also goes by the name of VIE Bet and makes a big impression on visitors either way. This is a high-profile, big-money sports betting website. You can tell that from the fact that it uses former Arsenal and Brazil footballer Gilberto Silva as a brand ambassador. He appears on the homepage of the site, offering you the latest promotions and free bet incentives. The site isn’t all about football, though – it offers betting opportunities on all major sports and esports, along with a slots section and a live casino with dealers. As well as providing an esports betting platform, VIE Casino sponsors several esports teams. It’s one of the biggest sites of its kind and is the Esports Entertainment brand that’s most closely linked with the name and purpose of its parent company. You can’t even bet on e-sports at the other two sites on the network we’ve looked at thus far, but at VIE Bet it’s a brand speciality. The UK sports betting market is so tough and competitive that it would be hard for any new brand to come in and become a success, but a site as slick and good-looking as VIE Casino would probably stand a fighting chance.

Olaspill

Olaspill logo

We’ve already mentioned multiple times that the Esports Entertainment (Malta) Limited range of casinos aren’t there as an option for players in the UK, but some of the casinos make that fact more obvious than others. Olaspill couldn’t make it any plainer. The site isn’t even available in the English language. This is a Norwegian casino site made solely for players in Norway to play and enjoy, and it seems to cater to the traditional end of the market. The presence of an old-school fruit machine jester as a mascot for the site is a nod to this online casino’s classic roots, as is the laid-back, easy-to-follow tone of the website. Olaspill is a little different to some of the other Esports Entertainment casinos in that it attached a wagering restriction to bonus funds, but the wagering restriction is only x3. That’s still a long way below the industry average and another painful reminder that players on the continent often get a better deal than players in the UK when it comes to the terms and conditions attached to promotions and incentives. Olaspill is a fun-looking website, but such is its focus that it’s unlikely ever to become available in the UK even if Esports Entertainment eventually acquires a UK Gambling Commission licence.

SportNation

SportNation Bet logo

SportNation looks and feels a lot like VIE Casino minus the star presence of a world-famous footballer to persuade you to play. Graphically it’s far more basic, preferring basic illustrations to photographs and high-resolution images, but the core content is identical. There’s nothing to pick between the sites in terms of games or promotions, so it’s reasonable to say that if you enjoy your time at one of them, you’re just as likely to enjoy the other. Of the two, though, VIE Casino has a more prestigious feel purely because of its sponsorships and connections. There’s another wrinkle here as well, because SportNation both is and isn’t an Esports Entertainment brand. It’s operated by Esports Entertainment if you access the casino’s homepage from outside the UK, but if you do so from within the UK you’ll see that it holds a UKGC licence through Argyll Entertainment AG. You might even see an invitation to visit SportNation if you attempt to access some of Esports Entertainment’s other casino sites from within the UK. This technically means that it’s possible to play at an Esports Entertainment casino site from within the UK after all, but if you do so you’re not technically playing on a site operated by Esports Entertainment. It’s all very confusing. So long as you’re getting good odds and enjoying playing here, though, we don’t suppose it matters too much.

About Esport Entertainment (Malta) Limited

Esports Entertainment Malta Limited appears, on the surface, to be a relatively new name in the world of casino network companies. Appearances can be deceiving, though. This network is closely tied to the larger and older Esports Entertainment Group and also recently acquired the LuckyDino Gaming Limited network. There’s some crossover between Esports Entertainment Malta and LuckyDino, but not every brand Esports Entertainment offers falls under the LuckyDino umbrella or vice versa. It looks to us like the old LuckyDino Gaming name is being phased out save for its former flagship website, but traces of it still remain for now.

This casino network company was founded in Malta in 2018 as “Esport Entertainment Malta Limited,” but legally changed its name by adding an “s” to “Esports” in April 2021 for unknown reasons. That decision was presumably taken by its parent company Esports Entertainment Group Inc, which can trace its history in the gambling and gaming sector back to 2008. The first licence the company acquired was granted by the Malta Gaming Authority – a highly respected license in its own right – but it’s acquired several more since then.

In a marked difference from most casino network companies, Esports Entertainment Malta Limited maintains a customer-facing website that’s rich with information. It even has a YouTube channel, although the content on the channel is of a corporate nature and would likely be of more interest to the company’s employees than to the general public. According to the counter on the company website, there are currently more than  200 employees working for Esports Entertainment Malta Limited across the company’s six casino brands, which serve more than one hundred million users. At the risk of stating the obvious, that’s a hugely impressive number.

Esports Entertainment Group Website

Buying Bethard

The biggest news in the Esports Entertainment Malta Limited world in the past twelve months is that its parent company acquired the Swedish gaming network Bethard in a multi-million-pound deal completed in July 2021. The deal also saw the Maltese company pick up Bethard’s Spanish and Swedish gaming licenses, allowing the company to operate in new territories. Bethard’s focus was on sports betting, which makes it a perfect fit for Esports Entertainment Malta and its multiple sports betting-focused casino brands. There was a famous sporting connection to this deal because one of Bethard’s owners was Swedish football legend, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. This acquisition came only a few short months after the purchase of LuckyDino in March 2021 and UK-based Argyll Entertainment in 2020. The company is expanding rapidly and might have further acquisitions on its mind in the future. It was briefly thought that the acquisition of Argyll Entertainment might be the beginning of Esports Entertainment attempting a full launch in the UK, but that hasn’t happened yet. It could theoretically make use of Argyll Entertainment’s UK Gambling Commission licence to offer sites like Lucky Dino to UK players if it wanted, but for whatever reason, it doesn’t seem to want to.

Going Stateside

Any casino network company that offers sports betting services is likely to have its eyes on the United States of America at the moment, as a Supreme Court ruling in 2018 made sports betting legal in the country for the first time in generations. To that end, Esports Entertainment opened a new office in Hoboken, New Jersey, in September 2021, in anticipation of being granted a license to operate in the gambling-friendly state. The sports betting market in New Jersey is worth more than six billion dollars per year, so if Esports Entertainment can grab a slice of that, the company will push on to even greater heights. That probably explains why they’re in the middle of a heavy recruitment drive at the moment, which is featured prominently on their website.
