“Chipstars” is a perfect name for a casino specialising in poker or live casino games. It is, then, a little surprising that Chipstars leads with a collection of more than seven thousand slots. It’s an astonishing number, though, and means that this is a casino packed with excitement and options. It goes for a clean and traditional approach to presentation, lacking a theme but perfectly functional and easy to navigate. Our first impressions of Chipstars are good, so let’s see if it can keep that up as we proceed to a full review.

Chipstars Welcome Offer

You can pick one of two welcome offers at Chipstars – the casino bonus or the sportsbook bonus. Incredibly, both have a stated maximum bonus cash amount of £36,460 split across four deposits. For the casino bonus, this is a 200% boost to first deposits up to £1800, a 210% boost to second deposits up to £4410, a 220% boost to third deposits up to £9460, and a 270% boost to fourth deposits up to £20790. No, that wasn’t a typo. The minimum qualifying deposit at each stage is £30. The casino claims to have a wagering requirement of just x1 for all bonus funds, which seems far too good to be true, but it’s there in writing.

The percentages, minimum deposits and maximum limits for the sports betting sign-up offer are the same, but the wagering requirement is given as x10. It seems crazy to us to have a sports betting bonus with a higher wagering requirement than the casino bonus, but we can only go off the information on the Chipstars website, and that’s what it says.

Ongoing Promotions

There are lots of extra promotions at Chipstars no matter whether you’re betting on sports, casino games or poker, but the one that offers the most substance is the Chipstars VIP program, which provides loyalty benefits to players who stick with the casino for the long term. Unfortunately, the information provided about the loyalty scheme is vague compared to what we’d like to see from it.

The benefits of the scheme are laid out clearly. Players can receive up to 25% ongoing cashback on their losses, “express payouts” for faster withdrawals, higher deposit and withdrawal limits, and VIP deposit bonuses. At the higher ends of the scheme, they can also get dedicated customer support, weekly bonuses, special gifts on their birthdays, invitations to special VIP events, and the guarantee of lifetime membership and benefits even if they deposit less frequently. All of this sounds fantastic, but the casino never explains how players become VIP members or at what stage of the scheme each of the stated benefits becomes available.

Pros and Cons of Chipstars

Pros: We want to take Chipstars at its word with regard to the bonuses that it offers and their almost unbelievable value. Offering over £30,000 of bonus cash with an x1 wagering requirement is the best promotion we’ve ever seen. There’s also a VIP reward program and 24/7 customer support. The size of the casino’s portfolio is deserving of praise, too – there are more than seven thousand games here.

Cons: As the old saying goes, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. We just don’t see how the casino can remain solvent while offering massive pots of bonus cash with an x1 wagering requirement. The terms provided for the promotions are too vague, especially in relation to the VIP scheme. For UK players, the fact that Chipstars welcomes registrations without holding a UK Gambling Commission licence should be seen as a red flag.

We’ve waxed lyrical about the size and quality of the iGaming portfolio at Chipstars already in this review, and we could carry on doing so. Seven thousand is a huge number, and it means that there’s no danger that anyone who plays at Chipstars will ever get bored. Every major iGaming category is covered. There are thousands of slots, hundreds of live casino games, a sportsbook, poker tables and more. It’s a casino lover’s paradise.

Even though there’s so much range available, the casino chooses to highlight slots on its homepage before delving into any other categories. Top titles like Wanted Dead or a Wild by Hacksaw Gaming and Dog House Megaways by Pragmatic Play hog the spotlight next to the likes of Gates of Olympus (also by Pragmatic Play) and Benny the Beer (also by Hacksaw). The casino claims to work with more than sixty providers, but there are only a handful represented on the homepage. There are oddities here, too – Aviator by Spribe is listed as a top game, and that’s a title that doesn’t fit neatly into any of the casino’s categories.

We’ve checked the licence, and it’s valid and in force. However, it still doesn’t offer any protections to players based in the UK, and there are still questions about how seriously Curacao eGaming takes its regulatory responsibilities.

Chipstars – The Verdict

We want to believe everything Chipstars says. We want to help ourselves to those enormous piles of bonus cash and enjoy the luxury VIP benefits that have been promised to us if we stick with the casino. The enormous selection of slots and games could keep any player entertained for a lifetime, and the payment policy seems fair. The one and only problem with Chipstars is credibility. It doesn’t say all that it needs to say when it comes to the terms and conditions of its promotions, and it doesn’t have a strong enough iGaming licence for us to feel comfortable playing here. If it were ever to obtain a UK Gambling Commission licence, we’d have no hesitation about recommending it as a great place to play.
